Fast forward 8 years...Parker is a strong, athletic, happy ten year old. He plays piano, football, soccer and recently joined the Mob/RMCEF cycling team learning all about riding and racing. He uses an insulin pump and is active in his diabetes management. Since 2000, we have participated in the Tour de Cure bicycle ride/fund-raiser, and every year we strive to make our team larger and raise more funds - it is all about the cause, "Cure, Care, Commitment". We all want the cure, but until then, we all contribute in order to improve the lives of everyone who has diabetes (Type 1 and Type 2). Every year (sometimes several times throughout the year) we learn of other people who have been diagnosed - sometimes they are new friends, sometimes friends we have had a long time where diabetes has recently affected them or their lives. We love being active in our lifestyles and in our efforts to do what we can to find a cure, and the Tour is one of our family highlights every year. You are guaranteed to go home after this event with (1) a smile on your face; and (2) a warm feeling in your heart (and perhaps tired legs). Please make it a point to ride! Join our team , ride solo, or start your own team - just ride, baby! There are distances for everyone or volunteer opportunities for those who prefer not to ride a bicycle. See you there!!!!!
